The MLM Manifesto.
Denouncing Network Marketing as usual?
Here's an old one—a good idea that never got the exposure it deserved.
It's Ty Tribble's 'The MLM Manifesto', which opens with: 'Denouncing Network Marketing as usual… this is about changing the way we do business and therefore changing the perception of Network Marketing.'
In a series of 10 bullet points, it outlines sound principles & practice for reforming the business.
- People want a good product at a fair price.
- Teaching an associate how to build their business should not be a profit center.
- A leader does not allow his/her followers to lose money for an extended period.
- It shouldn't take 16 pages to explain how to make money.
- Stop hounding people.
- Cultivate a positive attitude toward others and their accomplishments.
- Model and encourage a balanced life of good work and rest.
- Communicate honestly and truthfully.
- Be fair and just in financial matters.
- Create an environment free of harassment.
Sensible stuff. Deserved better than it got. But, as the whole thing is so counter to the dominant ethos of this business, what chance did it really stand?
On a positive note… with the right company and an appropriate attitude, every one of those points is something we can do individually in our daily dealings—that we cannot change an industry is no reason to not improve ourselves.
