Flash and trash.

The value of what's on offer.

Remembering the 'lighter tone' theme-of-the-week thing, let's say this gently… 'using pictures of red sports cars is not a cool way to get business'—however commonplace it may have become among MLM recruiters.

Nor indeed is Dale Calvert's yellow-hued variant, in which he compounds the faux-pas by photo-shooting complete with starter-castle backdrop… then takes the parade of vacuous gauchedom wealth entirely over-the-top by regaling us with tales of just how much money he's made from MLM. So then D, don't hold back, please impress us more—just how big is your dick?

Seriously, and having already blotted my copybook with the above para, let's file this entry as 'brickbat, not bouquet'.

And that's a pity. Calvert does some good stuff which I happily publish. I'd like to have written something more glowing about him—and won't, because his pitch is founded on impressing with wealth in an altogether uncool manner:

From 1994-1998 Dale and his leadership team developed an organization of over 60,000 distributors and $120 Million $$$ in wholesale product sales.

When asked what his greatest accomplishment has been in his career, he didn’t mention his homes, cars, or the other benefits and financial rewards which he has earned.

'Didn't mention…'? Hhhmmm… really? Then why lead with the numbers? And wtf is this? I won't even mention that prominent on-site eye-grabber 'Confessions of a Network Marketing Millionaire'. Oh damn, just did.

And, why '$120 Million $$$' rather than simply '$120 million'? Did you get a deal on dollar signs? Let's tarry awhile and look at them numbers… $120mil—wow! Then again, spread over 60 thou people and four years, that average is just $2k each—$500 annual. What's so hot about that?

Schmuck.

For avoidance of doubt, the purpose here isn't to rant specifically about Calvert—there's many other, and worse, examples of similar behavior. He's simply used as a named example of a prominent NM personality doing stuff which doesn't help the credibility of the business.

Although 'here's a shot of my bonus check' has been legally outlawed as a recruitment tactic, instances of 'Hey, join me on millionaire's row—here's how' seem to continue unabated.

Don't be fooled. Please use that little thinking-lab on your neck to determine the objective value of what's on offer.

Moving on…
